Disclosure: this post is sponsored by Jewelers Mutual Insurance Group, but as always, if I didn’t love it I wouldn’t be sharing it.

I’ll start this post off with complete honesty. I never expected to get married. I fully believed I was going to be “Uncle Parker” forever. That is, until I met Jaclyn. All of a sudden, as we met and started to get to know one another better, I began to understand the idea of “when you know, you know.” Now, four and a half years later, I’m an engaged man with plans to be happily married for the rest of my life.

It’s pretty crazy how meeting the right person can change all of your ideals. My responsibility levels have gone up about 25 notches since we first met. This is important because it made me realize that once I purchased her engagement ring, I wasn’t finished with my end of the bargain. I also had to be responsible enough to get it insured. That’s when I contacted Jewelers Mutual Insurance. I’m the first to admit that insurance can be frustrating. It’s not always easy to understand what you need or how much to spend, but Jewelers Mutual did an amazing job of making it totally clear what was smartest for me. They were very honest about what they provided and how necessary having insurance on such a cherished piece really is.

Jac and I are pretty goofy people, so we’re always doing random stuff. Whether it’s dancing, attempting (and usually failing) gymnastics lifts, or spontaneously jumping around, the odds of something happening to her ring are probably higher than we would’ve ever thought. Thankfully, because of her experience working in jewelry, I had a lot of help from her. If you’re not exactly sure what to get for your significant other and you want it to be a surprise, check out Jewelers Mutual’s guide to help you manage expectations and understand what most couples really want.

If you’re late to the game, it’s totally fine. Find out how much quality insurance would cost for her ring using their quote tool. I was a bit nervous that I was going to get gouged for extra things that weren’t actually necessary, but you get a total understanding for every bit of the charge, what it’s for, and why it’s necessary. I would’ve laughed at myself in the past, but it’s totally true that you feel a sense of comfort knowing that if anything were to happen, you’re covered. If you’ve ever dealt with a scare, you know that it’s horrifying not knowing if you’ll be able to get a repair or replacement done.

If you’re not engaged yet, or you are a collector of other valuable pieces of jewelry, Jewelers Mutual also insures watches, earrings, and loose stones. If anything were to happen and you weren’t covered, you’d really regret it. Also, replacement costs end up being much more than insurance premiums.

I’m one of the lucky ones who found their person, but I’m also doing my best to be responsible about covering my investment. I believe that meeting the right person is all about luck, but being responsible after the fact is extremely important. Hard work, proper coverage, and resilience are what take a lucky meeting and turn it into a long-term, strong relationship!

Be sure to check out Jewelers Mutual Insurance for all of your jewelry insurance needs. The comfort their coverage provides is well worth it!
