Every so often, something happens that we never would’ve expected. Concepts are introduced that seem kind of crazy, but once you sit with them for a bit you understand their ultimate value. This is what happened when I found out about The Mr. Collection. They’re a personal style rental service. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s a company that provides you with packages of clothes that you wear for as long as you’d like, then ship back to them and receive a new package in return. You can buy anything that you really love for a discounted member rate. Think of it as a way to be constantly updating your wardrobe without ever having to do any of the shopping yourself.

A company with an idea like this was totally fresh and new to me…originally causing a perplexing reaction. As I started thinking more about it, I realized that this concept is totally awesome. What they ship is about an outfits worth of things. The look I’m wearing in the photos is completely provided by The Mr. Collection. What you’re receiving is a mix of pieces from recognizable brands like Jachs NY, Mavi Denim, and Original Penguin. Start at ShopMyHappiPlace.com.

Let’s break this down a bit more specifically, shall we?

Something like this burgundy bomber jacket is a great piece during fall and winter, but it’s also not a piece that I would use as my everyday jacket. This makes it perfect for a rental process like this because once you’ve worn it a few times and are ready for something new, you can make that happen without having to go buy something. I thought it worked really well in a casual outfit like this. It’s really comfortable and makes a nice statement around the rest of the basics.

This gray henley shirt is one of my favorite pieces during colder months. There’s a masculinity to this type of piece that I love. This one worked well as a layer piece under the jacket. This is something that I would recommend going ahead and buying once you’re shipped one that you really love. It’s versatility and classic style status means you’ll get a lot of use out of it, especially if it’s something you really love.

The glasses were an addition from my own collection, but I wanted to point out that bolder clear lens glasses can make a great statement when added to an otherwise pretty basic outfit. If you want to stay extremely comfortable but also are in the mood for a bit of boldness, consider adding some into your outfit.

Here’s a better look at the henley. By losing the jacket, it’s a completely new outfit. It may already be too cold in some areas for no jacket, but this a great base layer to build around. Add a button up shirt and a jacket for a perfect layered winter outfit. It’s further reason to remember that buying essentials that you really love is a smart investment. Let the other things that may not be a smart way to spend money just come through the rental service.

In the same way that a henley is a smart investment, so are jeans. When you receive a pair from a brand that work really well for you, go ahead and buy them and let your stylist from The Mr. Collection know that you don’t want to receive any new jeans. Then you can focus on building out or trying out other types of pieces. By ensuring that you have great staple pieces in your wardrobe, you’ll eliminate the need to shop for those. Also, there’s no other better way to try on multiple different brands without having to go to the mall and walk from store to store trying them all on. This way you can live in each of them for a bit and see how they work with your lifestyle.

Also, if you’re looking for a gift for the lady in your life, there’s also The Ms. Collection, a similar service catered to women. All of the same principles apply. It’s a great way for anyone to constantly be updating their wardrobe.

This post was sponsored by The Mr. Collection, but as you’ve read, I think it’s a great idea and am happy to share it with you guys! If you’re a guy or you know a guy who doesn’t have time to shop or simply isn’t interested, this process makes having a stylish wardrobe possible without the need for shopping.
