If I get nothing else across to you in all of my posts here, let the one thing be classic versatility. Quality pieces that are made well, fit great and allow you to express yourself are everything you need in order to establish your own sense of style. Denim shirts are one of these items.

It’s starting to get crazy how often I’m talking about denim, but it’s just such a nice fabric for year-round wear. It’s durable, comfortable and stylish, which is essentially the holy trinity of my fashion.

I’ve styled this denim shirt from Bridge & Boro today in two different ways. The outfit Jaclyn’s wearing is also from B&B.

Jac and I had the privilege of going to Napa for our first time recently, so I knew I wanted to dress stylishly rugged for a day at the vineyards. A denim shirt, when worn with jeans creates a really cool uniformity. I rolled the sleeves in a somewhat messy way and unbuttoned a few buttons to make the look as casual as possible. It’s a cozy way to stay dressed up enough to go out on a spring or summer night, but not so dressy that you’re not going to fit in at a slightly more dive-y bar. The black boots rounded out the look nicely. I felt really masculine in this outfit, which isn’t usually the case for me. It was nice!

Next, I wanted to showcase that the same shirt can absolutely be worn in a more formal way. By contrasting the denim with a lighter colored pant, it allows the shirt to pop and creates more division in my look. Chino pants or lighter colored denim work great for this. I also threw on a tie because I felt like it was a great representation of a Friday Happy Hour type vibe. This is the kind of look I’d want to be able to wear to the office on casual Friday, only to easily transition out with friends. This type of outfit works great with casual sneakers like these, but also with some dress shoes or boots as well.

Denim shirts also are really great under a casual suit made of cotton or wool. Something that’s not too formal on its own will work best.

Don’t waste anymore time! Grab yourself a denim shirt from Bridge & Boro and be styling all year long. I’d love to see how you guys like to style out a denim shirt!
