Quite often I get approached by someone either in my personal life or online who wants to have better style but is struggling with where to start. It’s an understandable position to be in. There’s SO many stores, so many types of style and the whole thing can seem a bit daunting. Well one thing I always try to remind people is that style is just like anything else in life, you’re not going to wake up one day and have it. You CAN, however, work at it and start yourself in the right direction.

One of the best ways to do this is to stick with the classics. Here’s where this black cashmere sweater from SHARPLY comes in. It’s a simple, understated, super comfortable, totally versatile piece that, (as always) as long as it fits, will look great. I usually recommend spending a bit more money on classic wardrobe staples because getting something that won’t fall apart is smart, as you’ll potentially be wearing it for years to come!

A sweater shouldn’t be skin tight, but it also shouldn’t be too baggy. It can be worn under a jacket, on it’s own or over a button up shirt. If the fit is there, you’re set. Start to consider the rest of the look.

I wanted to get a bit bolder for you guys so I grabbed these red chinos and the beanie. If you’re more in-line with “grown man” style, some jeans or khaki pants and no beanie is totally acceptable.

I also chose some boots, bold accessories and dark shades so that I wasn’t in full “Dad mode”, which is an easy area to slip into with classic pieces, so beware.

It’s a great look for weekend errands or a casual night out with your significant other!

Be sure to check out Sharply for a ton of elevated basics. They’re seriously SO comfortable and versatile.
