EspressoMartiniIf you haven’t started to explore the world of craft cocktails and all that it offers, you’re really missing out. One of the joys of growing up for me has been a (slight) departure from drinking to get drunk and becoming more familiar with the art of cocktails. They can enhance your dining experience, treat your palate and still give you a nice buzz. I’m going to start recommending some of my favorite cocktails more often on here, so stay tuned.

Today we’re discussing the Espresso Martini. This is a drink I’d probably recommend ordering from your bartender rather than concocting at home. Unless you’re ok with spending money on very specific ingredients or it’s for a special occasion, then go for it.

What you’ll need:

1 shot of espresso, preferably cold but if made fresh that’s fine

2 oz. Vodka

1 oz. Kahlua

Add dashes of sweetener to taste

Mix all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake for 10 seconds or stir 25 times if you don’t like any ice shards.

Strain the contents into a martini glass and garnish with a couple of espresso beans.

Two of these ought to be plenty to have you feeling pretty good. Enjoy responsibly!
