Growing up in private school, a uniform was a regularity in my wardrobe. In grade school at Visitation it was a polo shirt and navy blue pants, but we were allowed to wear sneakers, so at least I could showcase my style in some way through my shoes. You can imagine my dismay when I found out that Elder High School’s uniform consisted of a polo shirt and khaki pants, but we couldn’t wear sneakers! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t freak out a little bit. We were required to wear dress shoes or boots, so naturally I chose boots because of their comfort and durability. Now if you knew or have read my posts describing high school Parker, you won’t be surprised when I say I wore Lugz and Timberlands. Little did I know, however, that I was building a relationship with boots that was just as strong as my (possibly freakish) love for sneakers. Ever since, I’ve been an avid fan of the many different styles and brands of boots, as I think you should be too. Boots are the perfect compliment to a casual outfit that takes you from errands in the daytime to date night in the evening. Don’t be afraid to diversify on styles either. I would always recommend paying a bit more for quality so they’ll last you a lifetime as opposed to just one season.

When I first saw these Black Commander Hikers from Thursday Boots (www.thursdayboots.com), it was love. I had to have them. I first loved the alpine hiker style of the design. It was something I didn’t already have in my rotation, therefore it was necessary, right?? The way these guys have been able to make them look simultaneously rugged and downright classy still grabs my attention whenever I see them. Once they arrived, I also fell in love with the fit. They feel great from the first wear, built to be lived in, not just to look good. I consider these to be some of the most unique boots in my closet and would most definitely recommend checking them out. Thursday also offers tons of other cool styles as well. All are made with the idea that you can accomplish whatever your day throws at you, whether that’s getting active or just simply looking good. Check them out and tell ’em Parker sent you!

What are some of your favorite styles of boots??

Stay smiling, my friends!
