I don’t wear a lot of suits. Sometimes it bugs me that I don’t go for them more often but then I realize that jeans and a tee is still such an easier way for me to express myself. That being said, there are always those days when I wake up feeling fancy. Today was one of those days.

A good khaki suit is a staple for every man’s wardrobe. Not only does it stand out from the monotony of black and blue, but it keeps you cooler as well (fashion and function!). This one from Zara has been in my rotation for a few years now and I have to admit that I always feel like a million bucks when I put it on. It’s crazy slim, but it still seems to fall just right, which I love.

I can imagine that if you’re a dude who wears a suit to work every day, the last thing you want to do is put one on over the weekend or on your day off, but think about it as an option when you just don’t feel right in jeans or chinos. I’m a believer that a necktie is what makes a suit uncomfortable for a lot of guys, not the suit itself. If your suit fits how it should, you’ll love it more than a lot of other things in your closet.

By pairing my lightweight suit with a vintage tee and these comfortable shoes from Steve Madden, I’ve managed to stay classy while also staying totally comfortable. I cut the neckline out of the tee to give it some extra give and it also fits nicely under the suit, contradicting the otherwise stiffness that a suit can sometimes bring. Also don’t forget that you can lose the jacket at any time and still be totally fine in your trousers and tee. It’s an uncommon look, but it will still work when done right.

Don’t be afraid to go heavy on the accessories when you’re suiting up outside the office, either. Bust out your casual watch, bracelets and a necklace to showcase the fact that you meant to be this casual.

It’s a fun look that switches things up. Plus, this gives you an excuse to go suit shopping!

What are some of your favorite ways to wear a suit casually??

Stay smiling, my friends!
