Hey everybody! So I’m very excited to announce that I’ve teamed up with accessory brand, Urbane Apparel. They make all sorts of beautiful neckties, bow ties, pocket squares and scarves. They even just released the ‘Lads’ collection for babies..so cool! I’ll be posting a different accessory from the brand in a few different shoots in the near future, so stay tuned and definitely go check out their site for the full product line.

I’m not a suit and tie to work every day guy, so ties and bow ties have always been reserved for special occasions. I’m trying to break that habit and get more into the world of neckwear. I’m finding that styling a tie into an outfit does exactly the opposite of what I always equated ties with, that being stuffiness…being uptight…rigid. Now I’ve realized that adding a tie can spice things up just enough to show that you took that extra step to look nice. They’re perfect for date nights or events that are otherwise pretty casual. Urbane’s ties come in all sorts of different styles, some are definitely more casual than others. They do an awesome job of providing all sorts of options, from the high end to the every day.

Take this denim tie, when it arrived I was really impressed with the quality. When I was picking out what product I wanted to feature from the website, I was quickly drawn to this piece because, to be honest, I’d never seen a denim tie before. The end has a unique cut, the material shows off the slightest bit of cool detail and it matches my jeans (no brainer). Overall it was just a fun way to change things up for me.

I’ve been loving solid ties over casual plaids becoming so regular in the last few years and I couldn’t help but feel like the cool teachers assistant in college with this outfit, combining my Zara plaid, Gents selvedge denim, Gap + Brooklyn Tailors Parka and Steve Madden Boots.

What are some of your favorite ways to throw a wrench in the world of suits and ties?

Stay happy, my friends!
