So, I recently received a Birchbox subscription as a gift from my girlfriend. This is the 2nd box I’ve received and I am becoming more and more of a fan with each box’s arrival.
The way it works: you can subscribe in different levels, it’s $195 for the full year, $110 for 6 months or $60 for 3 months. You receive a box with five items once a month. The items themselves range from all sorts of lifestyle products, grooming essentials and other things you’d probably never buy yourself.

You typically receive sample sizes of four things as well as a clothing item. When you originally subscribe, they ask you a few questions about the man you consider yourself or aspire to be, so as to better cater your shipments to what works for you.
This month, my Birchbox came with an Arquiste cologne sample, which normally runs for $165 a bottle. Personally, I’m not a cologne guy so a sample size like this will last me an extremely long time.
There was also a sample size bar soap from Ayres, a Dr. Brandt Pore Refiner (which I’m not really familiar with but plan on giving it a try), a Gentlemans Brand daily moisturizer (which every guy should be using by now, daily moisturizer is essential for after you shave or just after your shower so your skin isn’t flaky or dry) and the Mr. Cap by The Knottery (I’m obsessed with this hat).
Altogether, with the customization allowances as well as the variance in products, this service is well worth the subscription price. Also, if you receive a sample that you love, you can buy the full size products from the Birchbox website at a slight discount.
