Spring is coming! Get those short sleeves ready, fellas.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting an opportunity to bust out my cotton Zara blazer that I doctored to have short sleeves. I teased it on Instagram awhile back and haven’t found the right pairing…until now!

Any of you who pay close attention to fashion saw that last summer involved a trend of the Shorts Suit (aka a normal suit jacket with matching shorts rather than the traditional pants). I ALMOST got into it but couldn’t find myself inspired enough, so I figured I’d put my own personal spin on things.

All I did here was cut the sleeve of the jacket and the lining just below the elbow so that I could cuff the sleeve right above my elbow. It’s a fun alternative to a traditional jacket and almost kinda allows me to pull off the Don Johnson aka Miami Vice look, which is what I’m predicting to be the look this summer.

My lady and I went downtown last night to see a play and I figured it was the perfect opportunity to sport this jacket. A couple things to keep in mind with this look…you should wear a short sleeved shirt under the jacket (t-shirt, s/s button up) unless you’re trying to be super high fashion and wear long sleeves, which is ok, I do that sometimes too. Also, you don’t want to do this to a traditional suit blazer unless you’re planning on wearing it as a full suit. Pick one of your old jackets that’s made from cotton or something a bit more casual.

I combined my S/S Jacket with this collarless shirt from H&M, slim fit cargo chinos from Zara and a fun pair of cap toe shoes by Rachel Comey for a great summer date night look.

I dare you to give this a try with one of your old jackets that’s sitting in the back of your closet! Show us all, if you do.

Do you think the jacket works or no?
