Five years ago, if you would’ve asked me if I’d ever wear a turtleneck again I probably would’ve laughed in your face. I wore a ton of them as a kid in the wintertime, but definitely thought they were something that was retired forever from my closet. Hence one of the reasons I love fashion so much!! Things are always in one big cycle. Something that’s trendy and cool now (as long as it’s not too absurd) will eventually fall back into style once again. Now this does not mean that you now have an excuse to NEVER get rid of your clothes, because when they do come back in style, brands are clever enough to change something very specific about the stuff so that you have to buy it again.
Anyways, I’ve been seeing a lot of turtlenecks being used in a dressier way with a suit or something a bit more formal, so I decided to throw together a casual look to showcase how versatile they really are!
As everyone ought to know by now, denim jackets are near and dear to my heart. They’re so great for all kinds of different uses, and I love this one because of the contrasting collar. I didn’t want to go full on Canadian Tuxedo, so I contrasted the jacket with these green chinos. Anytime you’re in the mood to wear a denim jacket, I’d highly recommend a great pair of chinos or dress pants instead of denim.
These new brown sneakers are part of my Spring 2017 sneaker haul video coming soon, so I had to fit them in somehow. I really liked how they matched with the collar of the jacket to sort of “book end” the look on the top and bottom.
Casual is king in my world, dudes. Also remember that casual does not mean sloppy. This is a great look for running around town on the weekend or for grabbing a drink with friends at the bar. It’s all about ensuring your comfort level and enjoying yourself while still looking great!
